Annual Spring Cleaning Checklist

Annual Spring Cleaning Checklist

Spring… it may be everyone’s favorite time of the year. Everything blooms back to life, from flowers to leafy trees, to the smell of fresh air, everything is better in Spring – and so should your home.

That’s right, homemakers and homeowners, it is time to give your home that annual deep cleaning it deserves! This is the best time to re-make your home and transform it into something entirely new – or maybe just clean the vents out.

We get it, deep-cleaning your entire home can get pretty tedious and time-consuming. Especially if you are doing it alone. Some of us choose to hire help to get all the spring cleaning done, but for some of us, it is a chore we need to get done ourselves.

To make things easier, we have come up with a list of everything you should check for your spring cleaning tasks. Here we go…

Start with the kitchen

You might not want to believe this, but a lot of nasty things happen in your kitchen. Especially if you often leave dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. The first place you want to clean is your kitchen, deep-clean your dishwasher, scrub the spaces yourself using a damp cloth and a sponge. And remove any bits of leftover food at the bottom. Next, run the cleaning cycle to make sure it is thoroughly cleaned.

Dust the plates

Check your cupboards and kitchen cabinets. Most often, you might find that you have plenty of plates and kitchenware that hasn’t been dusted in a few. Take those out, dust it off, and wash it properly with some water and soap. This is also a great time to reconsider your kitchenware and give the unused stuff for charity.

Scrub your counterparts

If your countertops are already sealed properly, then you have nothing to worry about. All you have to do is wipe your countertop with a damp cloth, scrub hard on parts with spills and stains. Do the same for your cabinets, too!

Check your supply

Take everything out from your cabinets from canned goods to breakfast cereals. Check the expiration date and throw out the ones that are no longer good.

Your microwave and oven

No one wants a smelly oven and microwave, take a sponge and a damp cloth, and scrub the loose pieces from your appliances. Next, you want to spritz any burnt-out food with ammonia. Pro tip: you don’t need a lot of cleaning product, all you need is some baking soda and white vinegar. Sprinkle the baking soda on the bottom of your oven and microwave, add a few drops of white vinegar and let it bubble up. Once you’re satisfied with the bubbling, clean the grime with a sponge.

Your windows

Using a cleanser and a sponge, wash down your windows both from the inside and the outside. Do this on a cloudy day so the sun will not dry out the other parts of your windows while you’re still washing the others.

Move to the bedroom

Once you’re done with the kitchen, time to move to your bedroom. Change the bedding (you should do this every two weeks, anyway), and do not forget to wash the pillows and your comforter. Check the label and instructions before you throw these in the washing machine.

Your Living Room

Similar to your bedroom, you need to wash your throw pillows in the washing machine as well. Vacuum your furniture & carpets, and dust your cabinets. Donate everything that you no longer find a need for. While you’re at it, spring cleaning is a great time to change your decoration including your rugs.

Your bathroom

Throw away every bath and healthcare products that are already expired. Scrub the sink, toilet and the floors clean, especially your bathtub. Clean your mirrors with a cleanser as well.
